David Thompson’s Summary

David spent three years in an Ashram, which proved to be a formative period of his life. Grateful for the experience, David believes this time provided him with a sense of self that has served him well in his business ventures.

In 1996, he was offered a job as a designer with the Department of Premier and Cabinet within the Victorian Government and helped build prominent politicians' websites, such as then Premier's Jeff Kennett and his deputy's, Alan Stockdale.

Although it was his first introduction to the web, David quickly learned about content management systems (CMS) and recognised the potential they held.

EyeMedia, the company David went on to establish in 1998 with a colleague from his government tenure. The business focussed on the commercial development of inter and intranet sites, during which time David also developed an interest in webcams.

Looking for something to keep him technologically interested at the time, David noted the novel concept of personal broadcasting and it became the catalyst for the inception of ANYwebcam.com.

Originally meant to be a directory of webcams, and not a source, the business flourished and grew large enough for David to shift his focus to ANYwebcam.com on a full time basis.

With such a varied work history, David's happy to call ANYwebcam.com his proudest achievement, and says it's the staff coupled with the unexpected growth of the business that makes it a great personal success.

Name Network is his latest venture. A company with the vision to invest in premium Domain Names and develop their potential.

A passionate man who has more than a few passions, David's appreciation for the finer things in life is captured, in part, by an extensive collection of wine, cigars, watches and whiskey.
