Systems Analyst
Telstra Complex Billing Services (CoBS)
July 2008 – May 2009 (11 months)
Telstra Complex Billing Services (CoBS) is part of Telstra's Enterprise and Government group, providing specialised billing and reporting solutions for Telstra's larger, Enterprise and Government customers.
My role at Telstra included performing primarily technical, systems analysis tasks both for the design of new billing system components or reports and modification or complicated trouble-shooting for existing software components. This usually involved writing or modifying technical specifications based on business requirements. At times, my role would veer into both less technical (business analysis) type tasks such as file format design and more technical tasks such as specialised scripting for large file, format conversion or for proof-of-concept coding. This role placed a heavy emphasis on robust and efficient software design. My recent work included reviewing and writing technical specifications and requirements for external organisations Accenture and Mastersoft as part of the Telstra Transformation project for major billing system components.
Technologies used at CoBS included Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), .Net (primarily Visual Basic) and various custom software components. CoBS utilises strict development standards in an Agile development environment
including document and file management systems.
