Daniel Wissa’s Summary

I'm a Software Developer living in Melbourne, Australia.

In my second year as a Computer Science student at the University of Canterbury, I was the first person to become a Microsoft Student Ambassador at the University. Following that, I was also part of a global Student Advisory Board a team a of students from all around the world that helped bring the current version of www.theSpoke.net.

Since graduating in 2005 I've worked on teams and projects of various sizes and using different technologies. These include Cost Control applications for the construction industry, CMS solutions tailored for online publishing and digital media as well as larger scale projects such as Internet Banking systems.

I have a B.Com. from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand where I studied Information Systems and Computer Science. I am also a Microsoft Certified Application Developer in .NET.

I'm very passionate about technology and all things tech, I enjoy blogging and I previously ran the Christchurch, NZ .NET user group .

    I’m currently working with a team from APAK Group - a Sword Group company - at ANZ in the team developing ANZ’s internet banking solutions for the Asia/Pacific regions. My work involves maintenance and development of the system functionality, building the software releases for test & production environments, defect fixes as well as providing technical support & assistance for the project’s testing, production support and administration teams.

My work involved development and maintenance of our core CMS solution that is tailored for online publishing and social media. I have been involved with projects for sites like sjs.co.nz and blackcaps.co.nz and others.

    In addition I was also involved in maintaining our exchange server, spam management software and our backups.

I was also involved in some of our web projects with our .NET team where I worked on integration between those applications and our cost control package.

    Worked alongside 40 students from different countries around the world on the Student Advisory Board for theSpoke website - a student community website hosted by Microsoft for IT students. We worked with a team from Microsoft and partner companies on delivering the next version of theSpoke student community website. I worked as part of the Business and Marketing group which was responsible for deciding on the new user interface for the website and assisting the Microsoft team in creating the marketing campaign for advertising the website.

    Was a student ambassador for Microsoft New Zealand at the University of Canterbury. I helped the Computer Science department with its MSDN Academic Alliance subscription distribution, evangelised the Microsoft .NET Platform to departmental students, got involved with local .NET user groups, delivered presentations, and helped with technical and installation issues of the software when needed. [Please note that I was not a Microsoft employee with this position]
