MiWiFi was started in March of 2008 by two arts students, Geordie Barker and Edward Dowling. The two were frustrated at the lack of available, affordable wireless internet access in the Melbourne CBD and surrounds.
After almost two months of research on the technology, the market, the competition and the developing face of the internet, Geordie and Ed ‘bit the bullet’ so to speak and started MiWiFi with the aim to spread affordable, efficient wireless internet throughout Melbourne. Utilizing the new and developing technology of Mesh Networking, Geordie and Ed hope to reach their dream.

As Production Designer for the Spring Fashion Launch of leading Melbourne Fashion Design Firm Decjuba, I was responsible for the areas of Lighting and Sound Design, Staging, Stage Management, and Operation. As part of the "London Underground" theme of the event, extensive sound recordings were required. These recordings, recorded both locally and overseas, were an essential part of the atmosphere of the event. Guests were treated to the experience of walking down to the underground station, through the use of a multi speaker sound system and a digital MAX patch computer program. The soundscape was mixed along with client selected music, through the main speaker system and the audience response was very positive. The space was lit effectively through the use of up lighting and cool blue industrial colours.
