VingCard Elsafe Service Manager, Philomath, Entrepreneur
Melbourne Area, Australia
Service Manager for Vingcard Elsafe servicing hotels across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. This is a specialised role requiring skills in IT (software/networking), mechanics (locks/encoders/safes), electronics (lock control units/encoders/safes), and communication (hotel staff/guests/suppliers). The nature of the work requires a high-level of diagnostic skills, and this is one of my favourite aspects of the job. I also schedule and co-ordinate technicians to ensure the department runs efficiently. In addition I handle all the VingCard Marine orders and support across the three states.
I'm also actively connecting with other service and sales people not only within the Vingcard realm, but with PMS systems and other related industries. I'm keen to foster an open and collaborative global environment that can make my job even more rewarding and increase client satisfaction (which is already high just due to the quality of Vingcard and Elsafe).
In 2004 I submitted a design for an international logo competition for Wikipedia, a Top 10 Global website. While my design wasn't chosen for the Wikipedia, the members of what was to become the Wikimedia Foundation asked if they could use that design to represent the Foundation as they felt it was a perfect fit. My design has now become the basis of the Wikimedia Visual Identity Guidelines, and is seen by millions of people around the world. I'm pretty happy with that.
I'm more than happy to connect with people who are willing to share knowledge to the benefit of all parties, and who have an ethical base for doing business.

During the short time I worked with at DAGM (Docklands Apartments Grand Mercure) I implemented a number of procedures and policies leading to a more consistent operation of the Front Desk. I also actively listened to the staff and other departments about particular problems, noting that rostering was a major issue for many. I created a roster that not only served the business demands, but based on feedback from those concerned made a significant difference to the morale of the Front Desk team.
Unfortunately, this position was made redundant from due to a restructure after only 6 weeks of employment.

I ensured the Front Desk operated smoothly by creating and documenting various procedures and policies, which did not exist prior to my arrival. I was also responsible for training new staff, and served as an intermediary between management and front line staff. I applied many of the skills and insights I have learned in other aspects of my life to my work at the Atlantis Hotel, leading to a number of improvements to the overall operation. This also assisted in my understanding of the hotel industry in Australia, and the unique variables that this industry deals with daily.

In the short stay at this business, I designed stationery that is still in use, and maintained the computer systems in addition to the standard hotel front desk work.
