I have over 20 years as a high level Personal Assistant in large firms such as Deloitte Accountants and Minter Ellison Lawyers in Australia. I have vast experience with the Microsoft suite of products and Adobe Photoshop, with intermediate level of knowledge in Dreamweaver Web Design (ongoing). I am currently learning Adobe Flash, Illustrator and InDesign to increase my service offerings.
With my experience and understanding of how to run an efficient office it is my goal to educate business owners as to the advantage of using a Virtual Assistant. Work can be allocated to me via the internet and business owners can then get out into the marketplace and sell their expertise - not sit in the office doing admin work. Any copy typing, transcription of digital audio files or creative documentation can be done by me virtually - rather than sitting onsite at your office. You save costs when comparing a permanent employee (taxes, superannuation, insurance, equipment, stationery etc) to a Virtual Assistant (VA) who only charges by the hour or on a retainer basis for ongoing work. Worked in the Corporate Reorganisation Group - receivers & managers/administrators/liquidators (as Marie Anderson and then Marie Chandler after my marriage). Working in this team was a great opportunity to learn so much about so many kinds of business. Seafood wholesalers, hotels, resorts, abbattoirs, pubs & clubs are just a few businesses that we dealt with.

When I was known as Marie Anderson I worked as a secretary in the Commercial Law Department until October 1990 when I commenced as a Commercial Law Clerk in the Trade Practices and Special Titles section. This involved all work associated with incorporation of companies and maintaining of records, retirement village leasing, liaising with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (government department), creating templates and updating all templates and records when the government legislation changed.

This course taught us how to plan, conduct and review an assessment of training needs; how to plan and promote a training program or series of traning sessions; how to deliver training to small groups or one-on-one and how to review the training to ensure that the needs had been met. This was a nationally recognised training certificate.

Certificate covered subjects such as Business calculations, Office procedures, typing, shorthand and business equipment - purely focussed on preparing me for the world of secretarial work - I loved it!
