For the past two years Marcus Endicott has been an independent IT contractor in Byron Bay making web sites large and small. On his own time, he is an artificial intelligence programmer creating unprecedented taxonomy-driven mashups on the web and intelligent bots in 3D virtual worlds. He learned the IT business at his father’s knee, a professor of computer science.
Marcus Endicott has written and published four travel books, including the first book about travel information on the Internet in 1994. Since then, as a professional public speaker and travel technology consultant, he is widely credited with having helped forge much of the online travel infrastructure we enjoy today, and has recently worked for companies such as Expedia and Web Reservation Systems.
Since 1991, he founded and has moderated what is today the oldest and largest sustainable tourism community online at nearly 2000 members, called the green travel group. Through a lifetime of helping organize unique ecotourism projects around the world, he has become an internationally recognized authority on sustainable tourism, and was an invited speaker at “CSR in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industries” in Singapore in 2006.
Marcus Endicott has lived and traveled in almost half the countries on Earth over the past 30 years, and speaks three languages, English, German and Portuguese. Born in Australia of American parents, and educated in Switzerland, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1985.
