Steve Smith’s Summary

I have always concentrated on keeping a high standard of skills across the board - from broadcast, games & graphics, to flash development of major systems and dynamic PHP site development. As a result, I have the skills and knowledge to offer a full service to, I believe, any size of client from a small one person outfit, to much larger corporations. I have worked for top brands in the UK and Australia, and I have won a couple of awards internationally for my work. I sometimes contract for some companies in Melbourne, but I am committed to building my own client base, with a view to maybe growing into an office with some employers one day. I will keep the company small and fun but any colleagues would have to be serious experts and perfectionists like myself! ha... :)

Steve Smith’s Specialties:

Strong visualization, problem-solving, high standard of technical knowhow combined artistic flair. Optimism and open-mindedness. Knowledge of different programming and spoken languages. Always aiming for high standards, polish, originality, pushing boundaries.

    SeniorCreative (Self-employed)

(Self-Employed; Myself Only; Online Media industry)

    December 2005Present (4 years 1 month)

My folio site seniorcreative.com.au is based upon my own folio of work going back 9 years or so. As a body of work it has now taken on its own brand - with me giving it a nice logo and the style of my own graphic design, it has turned into a platform for my own business. I am greatly influenced by web 2.0 apps namely flickr, istockphoto in taking this site forward, building up my own client base here in Melbourne with hopefully a growing number of key sites for high profile clients and friends. I am now developing a set of business tools and products to enhance online businesses. Watch this space!

Based in Melbourne, Australia. At Digital Pictures I overhauled the company's entire internal website structure spanning up to 10 different departments. I made a huge flash-based CMS now called channels.dp / dptv - aimed at providing broadcast styled user-customisable flash sites. I also worked on various high level dvd projects for the Australian film industry, and some other cool websites. I specialised in various compression techiniques, and was meant to work in interactive TV industry but this never materialised so I left to work for myself. See my folio!

I briefly covered a short module over 3-4 weeks for Kylie Robertson's Class. I was brought in as an after-effects 'expressions' specialist, and greatly enjoyed sharing some of my tips and tricks with the students. I found it really rewarding to see the students take the knowledge on board and use it within their own projects.

aha well let me see. going back a while now this! At workhouse, in Winchester, UK, I was pumping out shockwave games for the BBC and iTV. I worked on some large CD-ROM projects, late 90's style! One was for PWC. I ended up being involved in BlueSQ - the UK's first interactive TV betting channel on Open... I did a funny flash (4) site also for rosie and jim. We had some wicked clients... I miss it but still keep in touch with some of the great people from there.
