Born in Helensburgh, Scotland, and currently living in Sydney, Stuart is a creative industries professional, specialising in the social web, digital media, music, writing and broadcasting.

Stuart Buchanan has career-long experience in the creative industries as Marketing & Press Manager for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (the largest arts festival in the world), Head Of Marketing for London’s renowned Royal Court Theatre, General Manager of Sydney’s FBi Radio and Executive Producer of Creative Sydney. Stuart has additionally been engaged in various capacities by The Australia Council For The Arts, Glasgow’s Citizens Theatre, Mayfest International Festival, Belvoir Street Theatre, Siobhan Davies Dance Company, London Philharmonic Orchestra and more.

Stuart’s other key strength is in the digital world: he began developing web and digital projects in 1994 and has managed developments for both the music & broader creative industries (including work for international recording artists Red Hot Chili Peppers and Depeche Mode). From 2002-2007, Stuart managed web development for the band Goldfrapp, winning the 2003 MTV Europe Web Award for their Black Cherry site. From 2003-2008 Stuart edited the music blog, Fat Planet, which was featured in the UK’s Guardian newspaper as ‘Best Blog For World Music’.

Clearly passionate about music, in his spare time Stuart manages the not-for-profit national music project New Weird Australia and presents the companion radio show on Sydney's FBi Radio.

Stuart is actively involved in public speaking and has presented at Australia Council Marketing Summit (Sydney), Dot Bleep (Melbourne), Big Sound (Brisbane), Amplified (Hobart), Fuse Music Festival (Adelaide), Sound Summit (This Is Not Art / TINA, Newcastle) and national conferences for Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.
