Project Director

Hess Corporation

Public Company; 10,001+ employees; HES; Oil & Energy industry

June 2010April 2013 (2 years 11 months) Perth, Australia

I am responsible for all technical activities on the Equus Project ($6 billion). Equus will develop eight natural gas fields off the Northwest coast of Australia. It is a grassroots facility in approximately 1100 meters of water, about 200 km offshore and consists of development wells, subsea infrastructure, a semi-submersible based floating production facility, and an export pipeline. The project has entered the Refine Stage of the Hess Value Navigator process. The appraisal program and environmental assessment activities are underway and the FEED activities have been initiated. My responsibilities include subsurface, drilling, facilities, EHS, Operations, and Project Services. I have led the project through the Frame and Screen Stages in which a wide range of options were evaluated and quantitatively assessed. Critical issues include fully understanding the gas resource base, developing a design that is efficient and effective in delivering gas to the liquefaction plant, working with the commercial team to align liquefaction and LNG contracts with the technical capabilities of the facilities, and ensuring all work is done in a safe and environmentally sound manner. This is the largest net CAPEX project in the Hess portfolio.
