A general description of my position as an Information Analyst is to deliver end-to-end Data Warehouse solutions for the various clients I engage. This includes assisting clients to understand their source data, helping them develop the day to day routines for capturing and historically storing the data and building fast loading, logical and accurate reporting of the data based on the projects KPI’s. The role is also heavily focused on developing and refining the structure of the Data Warehouse system architecture, from source data extraction techniques, through the levels of the Data Warehouse (ETL and Oracle) to the many Data Marts and Business Objects Universes we manage.

Typical duties include:
• Responsible for monitoring and mentoring of the Technical Analysts and System Support Officers
• Participate in the recruitment of Data Warehouse staff and client staff
• Responsible for designing, developing, monitoring and trouble shooting of various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual ETL processes
• Technical data support for clients, usually Business Objects Reports, Universe or interrogating client data from source through the Data Warehouse to reports
• Identify and analyse new and existing business systems. Develop and implement procedures to capture, store and utilise information from these systems
• Review quality of data collections and initiate procedures to improve data quality (Data Profiling, staging environments, error capture and reporting design)
• Relational and dimensional database modelling, design, development and maintenance
• Develop DataStage jobs to deliver ETL solution for business requirements, including BO Universe Design for reporting requirements
• Technical and functional specification design
• Leading or participating in planning and strategy meetings
• Liaising with clients and assisting with remote data capture installations and the maintenance of these installations including various databases and web sites

Systems Support Officer, Data Warehouse

• Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual ETL procedures for various program area’s within DHCS CCIS, including correcting any problems that arise during this process
• Responsible for the maintenance and backup of data
• Management of multiple projects often under difficult deadlines and with multiple program areas, leasing with stakeholders and managers to adjust and determine work priorities in order to meet objectives under pressure
• Technical design and documentation of projects, participating in group planning and strategy meetings, design of Data Warehouse structures, Data Marts and Business Objects Universes
• Implementation of projects using different Data Warehouse methodologies, such as Dimension Modelling and Normalised Modelling
• Liaising with Business analysts with Data Mining, correcting data problems, improve ETL and reporting systems, design or improve Data Marts, design or improve Data Extracts and provide advice on Web Sites, Database, Warehouse, Data Mart and ETL processes.
• Liaising with government officers off site assisting with remote Data Capture installations and the software maintenance of these installations including Databases and Web Sites
• Work with the Data Warehouse team to provide assistance and acquire assistance with any issues that arise in day to day activities, often collaborating in areas outside of my primary role
• My role requires that I meet and discuss complex technical issues with many different people from different backgrounds. I have a good ability to communicate technical topics to people who may not have much exposure to the technology.
• My tasks require proficient knowledge and use of: Oracle, DataStage, Toad, SQL Server, JADE, Access, Word, Excel and other tools
